Saturday, June 20, 2009
Let us do away with some gossips and focus on something more meaningful to the community.
Grandma’s Marathon has announced its 2009 Hall of Fame class. The nonprofit organization has selected four new inductees: John Docter, Steve Greenfield, Kellie Luedloff and Bill Wenmark.
Docter and Greenfield both have been volunteer media vehicle drivers for more than 30 years. Luedloff is a longtime volunteer and has been captain of the seven-mile water station since 1994. Wenmark is a longtime Grandma’s Marathon participant, training program founder and long-distance running ambassador.
The 2009 Hall of Fame inductees will receive their awards at Saturday’s post-race award ceremony which begins at 4 p.m. at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
Grandma’s Marathon weekend kicks off with the SMDC Health System Health and Fitness Expo which begins at 5 p.m. Thursday and continues all day on Friday. Other Friday events include the Michelina’s all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, the Whipper Snapper races for kids, guest speaking presentations, the William A. Irvin 5K and live musical entertainment.
