Disney’s Princess Protection Program Weekend Begins Tonight On The Disney Channel. Disney Channel will be airing the Disney Channel Original Movie “Princess Protection Program.” The Program is hosted by Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, but be sure to tune in tonight at 8 PM for the first airing of Princess Protection Program.

Princess Protection Program is a Disney Channel Original Movie that premiered on Friday, June 26, 2009. The film is directed by Allison Liddi Brown,written by Annie DeYoung and stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. Princess Protection Program was watched by 8.5 million viewers. That makes it the third highest premiere for a Disney Channel Original Movie, behind Camp Rock and High School Musical 2.

When Princess Rosalinda (Lovato) is about to become queen of her country of Costa Luna, the country is invaded by an evil dictator. She is put into the Princess Protection Program, a secret organization funded by royal families that looks after endangered princesses. Rosalinda is taken under the wing of Mason (Verica), an agent in the PPP from rural Louisiana. While there, she meets his daughter, Carter (Gomez), an insecure tomboy who works at the local bait shop. Carter dreams of going to the school dance with her crush, Donny, (Adamson), the school hottie. In becoming a normal teenager, Rosalinda takes up the name Rosie and soon becomes popular at school; which Carter must learn to handle. Although through the ups and downs, the two form a tight bond and become close friends, with Carter teaching Rosie to become a normal American girl, and Rosie helping Carter to find her inner princess. At the end, Carter realizes what a jerk Donny is and goes to the dance with Ed (Braun), who is her best friend and has had a crush on her for a long time. Rosie becomes Queen of Costa Luna in the end and Carter and Ed cheer ,”Long Live Queen Rosie!” and Rosie walks down the aisle with Carter proud and smiling.

The film introduced two new songs: a duet recorded by Lovato and Gomez called “One And The Same” and a song recorded by Mitchel Musso called “The Girl Can’t Help It.” Both songs are featured on the Disney compilation album, Disney Channel Playlist, which was released on June 9, 2009.The film also included Lovato’s song “Two Worlds Collide” which was first featured on her debut album Don’t Forget.
